Sanskara Training Camp Concludes Successfully in Tirupati

The 20-day Summer Sanskara Training Camp, organized by the Ramakrishna Mission Ashram for students studying from Classes 5 to 9, concluded successfully on Sunday morning at the Ashram’s Sri Vivekananda Auditorium. The valedictory programme began with the worship and archana of Sri Ramakrishna and Holy Mother Sri Sarada Devi, followed by students performing Pada Puja to their parents.

The concluding session was attended by Vice-Chancellor of Sri Venkateswara Vedic University, Acharya Rani Sadashivamurthy, as the Chief Guest, while Rangarajan Atthi, Special Correspondent of The Hindu, participated as the Guest of Honour. The programme was presided over by Ashram Secretary Swami Sukrutananda.

The meeting commenced with Vedic chanting and prayer by the students. After the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries, Swami Sukrutananda delivered the welcome address and stated that the camp had been conducted successfully over the past 20 days with training in prayer, discipline, education, service-mindedness, patriotism, cultural values, and personality development.

He said that education is not merely the acquisition of bookish knowledge, but true education is that which transforms a person into a noble human being. “Education that builds character, strengthens the mind, expands intellect, and enables one to stand on one’s own feet — that alone is real education,” he remarked. He added that the primary objective of the camp was not merely to produce students with high marks, but children with strong character and noble values.

The students were trained in yoga, prayer, meditation, bhajans, moral stories, patriotism, service-mindedness, discipline, and respectful behaviour towards parents and teachers. Swami Sukrutananda emphasized that these values would remain their true wealth throughout life. Recalling the message of Sri Ramakrishna and Swami Vivekananda, he told the students: “I love my religion, but I respect all religions; I love my country, but I work for the welfare of humanity; I respect my culture, but I never look down upon others.”

Addressing parents, Swami Sukrutananda observed that children learn more from the lives of their parents than from their words. “If there is peace at home, children develop peace within themselves; if there is prayer at home, devotion naturally grows in children,” he said. He advised parents to spend quality time with their children, encourage them to read good books, help them cultivate good friendships, reduce mobile phone addiction, and instill respect towards parents and humility towards teachers.

Chief Guest Acharya Rani Sadashivamurthy, while speaking on the concepts of nature, distortion, and culture, explained that only when students cultivate inner values do they earn recognition and respect for their character and personality. He said such Sanskara training camps are highly essential in today’s society as they help lay the foundation for students’ abilities, skills, values, and a cultured future.

Guest of Honour Rangarajan Atthi observed that many children today are becoming victims of smartphone and mobile addiction, distancing themselves from creativity and increasingly drifting towards anti-social activities.

Later, the students presented yoga demonstrations, episodes from the life of Swami Vivekananda, and message-oriented dramatic performances based on real-life incidents highlighting the greatness of motherhood. Some students also shared the valuable lessons they had learned during the camp. Parents expressed happiness over the positive changes they noticed in the thinking, behaviour, and attitude of their children after attending the camp.

Prizes were distributed to the winners of various competitions conducted during the camp by the dignitaries. The guests were felicitated by the Ashram authorities, and the programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Assistant Secretary Swami Sattwasthananda. Prasadam was distributed to all the attendees.

On the occasion of 129th Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda's Historical speech at world parliament of Religions at Chicago, USA today the Ashrama Secretary Swami Sukritananda garlanded the Statue of Swami Vivekananda near SV Medical College, Tirupati and paid Tributes.

Speaking on this occasion Swami Sukritananda told that on this day in 1893. Swami Vivekananda addressed at Chicago, In his speech Swamiji told that we believe not only in Universal tolerance but we accept all the Religions are True. ‘He is next to Adi Shankaracharya in spearding Sanatana Dharma’ as said by Balgangadhar Tilak. He asked every citizen of India should follow his message.  With Swami Vivekananda speech in Chicago, Indian tradition, Culture, Spirituality became world famous and Bharat - became “Vishwaguru”.

Later “Vivekananda Bala Samskar" a programme for High School Students between 5th to 9th Class inaugurated in the Ashrama premises. This a weekly Sunday program for High School Students.  Speaking on this occasion Swami Sukritanandaji told that in this samskara program students will be taught Vedic Chanting, Bhagavad Gita, Yoga, Bhajans, Public Speaking, Moral Values & Personality Development.

The Chief Guest Dr. Krishna Prashanthi said that Swami Vivekananda is a divine soul. Because of Chicago speech the world came about the Indian tradition, culture, spirituality and students should become good citizens by following the message of swami Vivekananda. Parents should take of care their children and they should prepare them to serve the Society.

In this around 30 students from different schools participated. Swami Vishwarajanandaji proposed vote of thanks. Prof. P V Reddy, Dr. G S Prasad, Smt. G. Sreedevi, Dr. Leela, parents and other devotees participated in this program.

Summer Camp  7th – 22nd May 2022

Our centre organized ‘Samskara Sibiram’ (Summer Camp) for the local students from 7th to 22nd May 2022 in the ashrama premises. 68  Boys and Girls of 5th to 9th standard were admitted to the camp.

The camp was inaugurated on Saturday 7th May. Classes were conducted from 8.00 a.m to 11.30 a.m. 

Subjects taught Vedic chanting, singing of devotional songs, Yoga and Meditation techniques, Drawing, Spoken English and Personality development with moral and spiritual values, by experts in the relevant subjects.

Competitions were conducted to the participants in Vedic prayers Shanti Mantras chanting,Bhagavad Gita, singing, drawing and yoga Asanas etc.. Prizes were distributed to the winners in the Plenary session. A concluding session was conducted on 22.5.22. Pada puja to parents of the participant children was arranged on that day. Students worshipped Bhagavan Sri Ramakrishna with floral offerings. Students as well as parents expressed their happiness for the opportunity in participating in the camp. 

In the concluding session Sri Shesha Sailendra -Chief Audit Officer, TTD & Dr. P. Muralikrishna-Principal of S.V Ayurvedic college, TTD participated and addressed students and parents. Meeting ended with requests from parents to continue the camp every summer.
