Sanskara Training Camp Concludes Successfully in Tirupati

The 20-day Summer Sanskara Training Camp, organized by the Ramakrishna Mission Ashram for students studying from Classes 5 to 9, concluded successfully on Sunday morning at the Ashram’s Sri Vivekananda Auditorium. The valedictory programme began with the worship and archana of Sri Ramakrishna and Holy Mother Sri Sarada Devi, followed by students performing Pada Puja to their parents.

The concluding session was attended by Vice-Chancellor of Sri Venkateswara Vedic University, Acharya Rani Sadashivamurthy, as the Chief Guest, while Rangarajan Atthi, Special Correspondent of The Hindu, participated as the Guest of Honour. The programme was presided over by Ashram Secretary Swami Sukrutananda.

The meeting commenced with Vedic chanting and prayer by the students. After the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries, Swami Sukrutananda delivered the welcome address and stated that the camp had been conducted successfully over the past 20 days with training in prayer, discipline, education, service-mindedness, patriotism, cultural values, and personality development.

He said that education is not merely the acquisition of bookish knowledge, but true education is that which transforms a person into a noble human being. “Education that builds character, strengthens the mind, expands intellect, and enables one to stand on one’s own feet — that alone is real education,” he remarked. He added that the primary objective of the camp was not merely to produce students with high marks, but children with strong character and noble values.

The students were trained in yoga, prayer, meditation, bhajans, moral stories, patriotism, service-mindedness, discipline, and respectful behaviour towards parents and teachers. Swami Sukrutananda emphasized that these values would remain their true wealth throughout life. Recalling the message of Sri Ramakrishna and Swami Vivekananda, he told the students: “I love my religion, but I respect all religions; I love my country, but I work for the welfare of humanity; I respect my culture, but I never look down upon others.”

Addressing parents, Swami Sukrutananda observed that children learn more from the lives of their parents than from their words. “If there is peace at home, children develop peace within themselves; if there is prayer at home, devotion naturally grows in children,” he said. He advised parents to spend quality time with their children, encourage them to read good books, help them cultivate good friendships, reduce mobile phone addiction, and instill respect towards parents and humility towards teachers.

Chief Guest Acharya Rani Sadashivamurthy, while speaking on the concepts of nature, distortion, and culture, explained that only when students cultivate inner values do they earn recognition and respect for their character and personality. He said such Sanskara training camps are highly essential in today’s society as they help lay the foundation for students’ abilities, skills, values, and a cultured future.

Guest of Honour Rangarajan Atthi observed that many children today are becoming victims of smartphone and mobile addiction, distancing themselves from creativity and increasingly drifting towards anti-social activities.

Later, the students presented yoga demonstrations, episodes from the life of Swami Vivekananda, and message-oriented dramatic performances based on real-life incidents highlighting the greatness of motherhood. Some students also shared the valuable lessons they had learned during the camp. Parents expressed happiness over the positive changes they noticed in the thinking, behaviour, and attitude of their children after attending the camp.

Prizes were distributed to the winners of various competitions conducted during the camp by the dignitaries. The guests were felicitated by the Ashram authorities, and the programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Assistant Secretary Swami Sattwasthananda. Prasadam was distributed to all the attendees.

Summer Camp 28th April – 18th May 2025

As many as 60 children on Sunday participated in ‘homam’ at the Samskara Shibiram (summer camp) organised by Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama. Students from classes 5 to 10 are taught Yoga, arts and crafts, Bhajans, Sanskrit shlokas, Srimad Bhagavad Gita, Indian culture, besides skills such as garland-making, self-defence, archery, Karrasamu, at the camp.

Referring to the homam as an ‘inner cleansing ritual’, Ashrama’s Secretary Swami Sukritananda ensured that the students participated. The children offered ‘Bilwa’ leaf into the sacrificial fire and took five oaths, praying for education, physical fitness, character, truthfulness, and disciplined life.

The Ashrama’s Secretary said, “The students felt rejuvenated after the ritual. During the camp, they are also explained the importance of giving respect to elders, especially parents and teachers in particular”. The 21-day camp concludes on May 18.

The motto of Ramakrishna Mission is to develop Human Excellence in all aspect’s of Human Life.

Swami Balabhadranandaji Maharaj, Asst. Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission, Belur Math inaugurated Vivekananda Centre of Human excellence at Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Tirupati. Today i. e. Wed 02 Oct. 2024 at 10.15 am Swami Satyajnananandaji; Adyaksha, Ramakrishna Math Chennai has started Ayurveda Clinic at the Ashrama.

10-45 am Program started with public meeting the Asst. General Sec. & other Monks of Ramakrishna Order participated in lighting the Lamp on the stage as a mark of beginning & Swamijis did vedic chanting. In his Presidential address, Swami Sukritanandaji Maharaj, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission Complimented the services rendered by Sadhus and devotees for the development of Ashrama.

Swamiji outlined the purpose of establishment of VCHE to bring the latent talents hidden in them and also develop self-confidence and positive mindset in them. It also aims at spreading ideas towards holistic development of the Youth,

He also said that training will be given in three disciplines i.e. Accounts, Computer, Spoken English, Yoga, Soft skill etc,

The Chief Guest Swami Balabhadranandaji Maharaj, in his Address emphasised the importance of being truthful and to be good and to do good deeds should be prime required ideals of Youth in the present day of competitive world.

Today, being Mahalaya Amavasya, by the grace of kalimata all bad qualities would vanish among the humanity, and therefore the programme started on this auspicious day.

Swamiji Seid Sri Guru Maharaj: Sri Ramakrishna himself Commenced those programmes as part of his spiritual journey to Kasi, in those days. Swami Vivekananda has propagated these ideals throughout the world and emphasized the necessity of character building of the Youth to lead Life based on ethical life Values and life skills, which is the main aim of establishing The VCHE at Ramakrishna Mission, Tirupati.

Speaking on the occasion, Swami Hridanandaji explained that one has to perform one's duties, holeheartedly with utmost devotion and total dedication. He further stated that the God realisation is to possible only to human beings and to reach that highest, stage, rigorous sadhana is necessary.

He also advised the student that one should have Self-Confidence, Concentration, trust and untiring efforts to reach their set goals firmly as explained by Swami Vivekananda,

Swami Anupamanandaji, Kadapa, in his address explained that the services of Swami Vivekananda is classified into four types, Viz:, Physical, Mental, Emotional and Spiritual. The Swami explained That there must be harmony among these three elements ie., harmony of head, heart and mind.

When there is a conflict between head and heart, one must listen to heart only. "If you don't feel towards the needy people, you are not at all human", he said.

Dr. Muralikrishna, Retd. Principal, SV Ayurvedic College, Tirupati, thanked the Math authorities for taking initiative in starting the "free Ayurvedic Clinic" at the Ashrama premises and expressed his readiness to serve the needy people, who visit the Clinic.

Sri Gangadhar, Convener of, Bhava Prachar Parishad, Ramakrishna Missions Welcomed the Swamjis.

All the Swamijis were felicitated on this occasion. Swami Vishwarajanandaji, proposed a Vote of thanks. The students & Ayurvedic College, Nursing College students, Seven Hills College Pharmacy and elite of Tirupati town participated in the programme.

Our centre organized ‘Samskara Sibiram’ (Summer Camp) for the local students from 1st to 15th May 2024 in the ashrama premises. 50+ Boys and Girls of 5th to 10th standard were admitted to the camp.

“We want that Education by which the Character is formed, Strength of Mind is increased, the Intellect is Expanded, and by which one can stand on One’s Own Feet”- Swami Vivekananda.

Today in the Ashrama Premises, the Concluding program of Samskara Sibhiram was celebrated in a grand and traditional manner. In the beginning, Sri Bhagawan Sri Ramakrishna Puja was conducted. After Vedic Chanting by Students. “Pada Pooja to Parents” by students was performed in the Swami Vivekananda Sabhangana. On this occasion, a meeting was organised, which was presided by Ashrama Secretary Swami Sukritananda ji and Dr. P. Muralikrishna, Principal, SV Ayurvedic College, Tirupathi was Chief Guest and Dr, N. Narasimhacharya, Sub Editor, TTD Publications was Guest Speaker.

Swami Sukrithananda ji told that samskara sibhiram was held for 15 days from 1^st may to 15^th may. In this program yoga, meditation, Vedic chanting, drawing, keerthanas, personality development classes were organised to inculcate good habits in the children. “Arise, Awake, and stop not till the goal is reached” – as told by swami Vivekananda, each student should work hard and they should reach their goal. Swamiji sung a song: O manava, Uthistha, Jagruthaha.. Sodara…”. As Swamiji told everybody should work for the welfare of the society. “Jagat Hithayacha….”.. Swamiji told that “Values are not taught, but they are caught”. He asked the students to respect parents, elders and do service to the society.

Prof. D. Bharati garu ,Vice Chancellor, Sri Padmavati Mahila Visvavidyalayam was the chief guest.

Later Prizes distributed to the students who won the competitions held in Yoga, Vedic Chanting, Drawing, Music and elocution competitions. Sri. Chaitanya welcomed the guests on to the dais. Dr. Muralikrishna, chief guest said, Education should not only for money earning, but it should be useful to the society. Children are like raw clay and the parents should mould them in a proper way so that they should be useful to the society and do service to the society. As swami Vivekananda told the essence of one crore of granths of books is nothing but ‘ paropakaram..’ as told in ‘paraopakaram idham shareeram…’.Knowledge and Education along with satseelam and samskaram will give fruitful results. The guest speaker Dr. N. Narasimharacharya told that Guru should practice what he teaches to the students before teaching them. Parents should be role model to their children. They have to taught good manners and samkara to their children. Through knowledge, service and samsksara only we will reach god and attain moksha.

"Samskara Shibiram" (Summer Camp) was inaugurated today in the ‘Vivekananda Sabhagana’ in the ashrama Premises.

Chief Guest Dr. N. Satyanayana Raju, Director, Bhartiya vidya Bhavan, Tirupati appreciated the parents who has joined their children in the Shibiram. Ramakrishna Mission is organising this Shibiram to students to awaken the inner power in them and teach Yoga, Meditation, Music, Arts, Spirituality. Indian culture & technology should be mixed to attain success. Bhagavad Gita is spreading Spirituality, Indian culture throughout the world. Knowledge and education will awaken the inner power hidden within ourselves. Indian education is Spiritual education & Atma Vidya. Indian culture ad Spirituality is showing the way to entire world. “Matru Devo Bhava, Pitru Devo Bhava, Acharya Devo Bhava” Students should learn how to give respect to parents, elders. Knowledge & Wisdom will increase divinity and peace in us.

Later Ashrama secretary “Swami Sukritananda ji” told we are organising this Samskara Shibiram in the past seven years. The students should take “Swami Vivekananda” as a role model. We have to develop positive attitude and learn moral values, Yoga, Meditation, Spirituality. As Swamiji told unselfishness is God. Selfishness is immoral. We should mix science & Spirituality to attain knowledge. Students should follow these 4 rules 1. Eat Well 2. Play Well 3. Study Well 4. Pray Well.

Then special guest Dr. C. Bhuvaneswari Devi, Principal, SPW Jr. College addressed the gathering. She said parents should observe the behaviour of their children, how they are reading and they should cultivate good habits in them and make them good citizens. Children should learn Yoga, Meditation, Concentration, Spirituality. The world is practicing what Swami Vivekananda told about culture, Spirituality, Sanatana Dharma etc. Students should plan what they should do daily and should do good deeds. They learn book reading. The research on neuroscience shows how yoga will improve energy. She added the students to improve their energy through this Shibiramu.

The program was started by lighting the lamp by Guests. Smt. G. Sreedevi introduced the Guests to the audience by inviting them on to the dais. Guests were honoured by Swami Sukritanandaji, Dr. G.S Prasad. Later Sri Govind Chandramouli, Sri Chaitanya gave instructions to the students and introduced the Resources persons. Inauguration of "Vivekananda Bala Samskar”

On the occasion of 129^th Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda's Historical speech at world parliament of Religions at Chicago, USA today the Ashrama Secretary Swami Sukritananda garlanded the Statue of Swami Vivekananda near SV Medical College, Tirupati and paid Tributes.

Speaking on this occasion Swami Sukritananda told that on this day in 1893. Swami Vivekananda addressed at Chicago, In his speech Swamiji told that we believe not only in Universal tolerance but we accept all the Religions are True. ‘He is next to Adi Shankaracharya in spearding Sanatana Dharma’ as said by Balgangadhar Tilak. He asked every citizen of India should follow his message. With Swami Vivekananda speech in Chicago, Indian tradition, Culture, Spirituality became world famous and Bharat - became “Vishwaguru”.

Later “Vivekananda Bala Samskar" a programme for High School Students between 5^th to 9^th Class inaugurated in the Ashrama premises. This a weekly Sunday program for High School Students. Speaking on this occasion Swami Sukritanandaji told that in this samskara program students will be taught Vedic Chanting, Bhagavad Gita, Yoga, Bhajans, Public Speaking, Moral Values & Personality Development.

The Chief Guest Dr. Krishna Prashanthi said that Swami Vivekananda is a divine soul. Because of Chicago speech the world came about the Indian tradition, culture, spirituality and students should become good citizens by following the message of swami Vivekananda. Parents should take of care their children and they should prepare them to serve the Society.

In this around 30 students from different schools participated. Swami Vishwarajanandaji proposed vote of thanks. Prof. P V Reddy, Dr. G S Prasad, Smt. G. Sreedevi, Dr. Leela, parents and other devotees participated in this program.

RAMAKRISHNA MISSION ASHRAMA, TIRUPATI

A Brief Report on Azadika Amrit Mahaotsav (commemorating 75 years of Indian Independence) dedicated to Swami Vivekananda.

Ramakrishna Mission, Tirupati celebrated Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav from 6^th August to 9^th August ‘22 by organizing the following functions.

1. Elocution Competitions for Degree college students: Elocution competitions were conducted for college students in English and Telugu languages separately. The subject of the completion in English was; Swami Vivekananda and His call to the Nation and in Telugu; Bharatha Jathiki Na Hitavu.

Competition was conducted at two levels. Initially all the participating 18 different institutions were requested to conduct completion at their level and depute three toppers to the second level. Final competitions were conducted on 27^th and 28^th July in the Ashrama premises. About 1000 students participated at first level screening and 250 students in the second level. A total Rs. 11,000/- worth prize money was awarded to each category winners.

2. Workshop for Teachers: A workshop was organized for teachers in the Ashrama premises on 6^th August 22. About 120 teachers participated in the workshop. Smt. Prasanthi, Director, SVETA, TTD, inaugurated the programme. Swamis Vimokshananada, Adhyaksha, Ramakrishna Math, Yelagiri and Raghunayakananda, Director, Vivekananda Cultural Centre, Chennai and Sharad Vivek Sagar, CEO & Founder, Dexterity Global Inc. foundation addressed the teachers explaining the ideas of Swami ViVekananda on holistic education.

3. Student Convention for women students: A convention was organized for women students at Annamacharya Kala Mandir of TTD, from 10 a.m. to 1.30 p.m. on 8^th August 22. Swamis Vimokshananda, Adhyaksha, Ramakrishna Math, Yelagiri, addressed the students by inaugurating the convention. Swami Bodhamayananda, Adhyaksha, Ramakrishna Math, Hyderabad exhorted the students with a motivational talk. Pravrajika Bhavaniprana Mataji and Pravrajika Thyganishtaprana Mataji of Ramakrishna Sarada Mission spoke on the role of Swami Vivekananda and Sister Nivedita in Indian independence. About 250 women students participated in the convention.

4. Student convention for Men Students: A convention was organized for men students in the same venue on 9^th August’22. The convention was inaugurated by Sri Venkatramana Reddy, IAS, District collector and magistrate, with an inspiring talk on Swami Vivekananda’s ideas for youth. Swamis Vimokshananada, Adhyaksha, Ramakrishna Math, Yelagiri, and Swami Bodhamayananda, Adhyaksha, Ramakrishna Math, Hyderabad, Raghunayakananda, Director, Vivekananda Cultural Centre, Chennai and Sharad Vivek Sagar, CEO & Founder, Dexterity Global Inc. foundation addressed the gathering. A total of 150 devotees and students participated.
